Description

U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires announces an open competition to promote innovation, cybersecurity, and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption in Argentina. This program will equip entrepreneurs, students, and small businesses with practical tools and knowledge based on U.S. technological standards, strengthening economic resilience, protecting intellectual property, and fostering open and secure digital ecosystems. Applicants are encouraged to propose scalable models and sustainable partnerships that can extend program impact beyond the initial funding period.

Project Background, Goals, and Objectives Artificial intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping economies and governance. However, the adoption of opaque or insecure technological standards presents risks to economic competitiveness, intellectual property protection, and open information environments.

Argentina’s entrepreneurs, SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises), and students show strong interest in AI, but there is a need for greater exposure to secure, transparent, and market-driven approaches aligned with U.S. innovation ecosystems. This initiative supports U.S. policy objectives to promote digital security, economic growth, and democratic values in the region.

Project Audience(s):

  • SME owners and IT managers in tech and service sectors.
  • Advanced undergraduate students in STEM and social sciences.
  • University innovation hubs and early-stage entrepreneurs.

Applicants should clearly describe participant recruitment and selection, including geographic reach, professional profiles, and expected cohort size.

Project Goal: The project goal is to strengthen Argentina’s innovation ecosystem by equipping SMEs, students, and emerging entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to adopt secure, transparent, and market-driven AI and digital technologies, aligned with U.S. standards and values, thereby enhancing economic competitiveness, safeguarding intellectual property, and promoting open and resilient information environments.

Project Objectives:

  • Objective 1: Increase AI and cybersecurity capacity among at least 250 participants across SMEs and universities within the program period, as measured by pre- and post-training assessments.
  • Objective 2: Create partnerships between U.S. AI companies and best practices with Argentine SMEs, universities, and others, with at least two formal collaboration agreements or pilot projects established.
  • Objective 3: Foster a network of students and professionals capable of applying AI to innovation and civic resilience challenges by supporting ongoing mentorship and knowledge-sharing activities.

Expected Outcome: The project is expected to produce measurable improvements in participants’ technical knowledge and practical application of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity principles. At least 250 participants will demonstrate increased capacity to understand, evaluate, and apply secure, transparent, and market-driven digital technologies, contributing to more competitive and resilient SMEs and innovation ecosystems.

The initiative will also result in strengthened institutional and private-sector linkages between the United States and Argentina. Through the establishment of at least two formal partnerships, pilot projects, or collaborative initiatives, participating institutions and companies will develop sustained access to U.S. expertise, best practices, and innovation networks, technology, fostering longer-term cooperation and knowledge exchange.

Additionally, the project will cultivate a growing network of students, entrepreneurs, and professionals who are better equipped to leverage AI in addressing economic and civic challenges. Through ongoing mentorship and knowledge-sharing activities, this network is expected to promote U.S. companies and technology, continued collaboration, support innovation-driven solutions, and reinforce the adoption of secure, open, and transparent technological standards aligned with U.S. approaches.
