Project description
- The key objective of SMDH is to support SMEs on their digitisation journey; develop and promote SME access to key enabling Industry 4.0 technologies through rapid demonstrator projects.
- This call focuses on developing rapid demonstrator solutions that enable SMEs to advance their smart manufacturing journeys, de‑risking major investment yet enabling growth.
- Funding supports sensor installation, data analysis or similar to level‑up opportunities for SMEs across the UK.
- Grant funding of up to £50,000 will be provided to develop concept into a market‑ready solution for deployment within 6 months of award.
- Solutions must be readily usable by an SME without risking business disruption or significant cost.
Co‑investment required
- Additional investment (co‑investment) expected, ideally at least three times the grant value, to sustain project beyond grant period; can include additional R&D investment.

- Update (23 July 2024): Given volume of interest, first round closes end of month; submit by 4 pm on 31 July 2024 for round 1 consideration; later applications may be considered in round 2.
