JPMA Researcher Support Grant, FY2026 (healthcare and pharmaceutical policy | Japan)
JPMA Researcher Support Grant, FY2026 is offered by Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) to promote interdisciplinary research connecting Japan's healthcare, health policy, and pharmaceutical industry to national policy discussions and social implementation.
The program runs two tracks: a Designated Theme track on the competitiveness of Japan's domestic pharmaceutical industry and drug-discovery capacity, and on factors that influence health and their economic and social impact; and a Free Theme track open more broadly to young researchers working on healthcare economics, health systems, health policy, social security policy, or related social-science topics. Biomedical research, studies of individual drugs or medical technologies, and research on the professional skills of physicians, nurses, or pharmacists are excluded from both tracks.
Applications are open to individual researchers or research groups pursuing promising or original research on healthcare economics, healthcare systems, health policy, social security policy, or pharmaceutical industry policy. The main researcher for the Designated Theme track must be employed at a research institution in Japan, while the Free Theme track is aimed at younger researchers, including master’s and doctoral students, affiliated with a Japanese research institution.
The program provides up to 10,000,000 JPY in total funding: 1,500,000–2,500,000 JPY per project (indirect costs included) for one to three Designated Theme awards. And 500,000–1,000,000 JPY per project (indirect costs included) for approximately five Free Theme awards. Indirect costs may not exceed 20% of the award.
Applications close on November 16, 2026.
